Closing Soon (Dec 17):
Allison Schulnick
“Mound”
Zieher Smith Gallery, 516 W20th St., NYC
Perhaps it’s just that we’re all knee-deep in the holiday season, but when we revisited Schulnik’s excellent exhibition today, we couldn’t help ourselves from feeling a strong Christmas vibe beaming from her animated film. It’s quite lovely, so if you cannot make it to Zieher Smith Gallery in person before the show closes, take a moment to view the embedded video here.
Apart from the film, Schulnick’s exhibit features “thickly impastoed paintings and sculptures where lurching, world-weary figures mingle with feline memorials among landscapes teeming with over-ripe blooms – densely painted and hand-molded visions entreating woolgathering and sympathy.”
